Bizarre Wedding

This piece of writing was a teasing joke I wrote dedicated to a friend of mine, who was adamant about not being the first to marry from our group of friends. Written in 2008, during a free period in class, the piece of paper I scribbled it on was filed away for a while. I thought it would be funny to post it up on fictionpress.
Here it is:

Early July, 2018. Shannon thought back to her engagement. Was it really six months ago? To her, it seemed like yesterday that her beloved bent on his knee and asked for her hand in marriage at the park on the same spot they had first met. She remembered that day so vividly that it played like a movie in her mind's eye. She seated herself before the mirror and ran the brush through her hair with swift strokes. Today was the day she would carry the name of her beloved. Today….was her day.
"Why aren't you ready?" a voice she'd recognized anywhere spoke.
Her delirious best friend, a thin girl with big brown eyes and a goofy baby face that could imitate a clown's even without makeup and paint. The girl held a huge white gown with long sleeves, a low cleavage, the bottom of the dress fell to the ground in silky terraces.
"Um…." Shannon was speechless . "Am I wearing that!" Maryann, her best friend, frowned.
"Cos you are!" she replied. "And here's your veil." Shannon gaped as Maryann lay down the wedding dress carefully on the couch and produced a two mile long veil.
"I know it's short but it would do."
Shannon thought back to her high school days when Maryann was very adamant on being the one to arrange Shannon's wedding. Maryann brought out what looked to be a list.
"Bougainvilleas, hmm, yes check! Mistletoe…"
"Mistletoe?" Shannon sputtered. "But Maryann! It's a long way from Christmas!"
"Nonsense," Maryann waved it off. "Brings out the festivities, you know. What else? Oh yes, young Spanish priest."
Shannon smiled knowing how much Maryann loved Spanish people.
"I ordered white roses, I didn't want the red ones. White symbolizes virginity..." Maryann looked up from her list. "Well unless…you prefer the red ones which symbolizes…."
"White ones!" Shannon quickly interrupted flushing at Maryann's sly look. "Wait. What would the groom be wearing?" Shannon had to ask. Maryann smiled coyly to herself.
"That's for me to know, and you to find out," she answered.
"Music…ah yes. Celine Dion, check!" Shannon rolled her eyes. Maryann was a die hard Dion fan.
"Oh yes, the best man. He was just some American guy I met on the streets who looked like Leo Dicaprio during his Titanic era. And you know how I loved Titanic!" Shannon looked at Maryann skeptically.
"I thought the best man was my fiance's best friend?" she asked. Maryann made a face.
"O yea him…died of food poisoning," she replied then taking on an innocent expression added, "No idea how that happened."
"Transportation?" Shannon asked.
"I've arranged a white limo, decorated it with pink balloons and there's a sign secured across the sides," Maryann answered. "I arranged for it to make two rounds around the Cathedral."
"Why?" Shannon asked.
"Riding in a limo is fun," Maryann replied grinning. "Now get ready, I bought a pair of white stilettos. Dorn that wedding dress oh and um.." Maryann brought out a Victoria secrets shopping bag. "Bought some lingerie for the honeymoon." Shannon turned red but burst out laughing anyway at her crazy friend's tactics.

30 minutes later Shannon found herself staring at the white limo with the words "Just married….SO GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY," written across it. Was she really going to ride this after her wedding?

The Limo made two rounds around the Cathedral is planned before pulling up at the church entrance. Shannon was dragged out by Maryann as they got ready for the bride's turn to proceed down the isle.
"Isn't dad here yet?" Shannon asked looking around.
"Huh?" Maryann asked. "O yea, too traditional. Your best friend's giving you away…um..me!"
"What!" Shannon almost choked on her own saliva. The flute tune of My Heart Will Go On began and the two besties walked down the isle. Shannon's attention was caught by the people crowded in the Cathedral. Her best friends and family were all at the front but…who were all the strangers standing at the back? Maryann answered as if reading her mind,
"I invited some wealthy people as well," she whispered. "You know…. bigger wedding presents." Shannon looked at her incredulously. This was definitely a memorable day for her. She then turned her attention to the man she was giving her life too. Her one true love...her soon-to-be-husband who stood waiting at the alter with the priest, maid of honor, best man and her parents. Her eyes widened when she looked at the groom who was decked out in…his birthday suite.
"Maryann!" she already knew who was behind this.
"I had this all planned 10 years ago," Maryann beamed. "So that you know what you're getting before you marry him."

The King's Choice

Before I started online writing, I used to write in 200 paged exercise books and let my friends have a read, back in primary and secondary school.
Here they are

The series was titled "The Covenant of Cross" and it was something I buried my self into to deal with the tragedy that was, high school.

The first online writing I ever did was "The King's Choice" which was just a sample ending to "The Covenant of Cross." Since it was my first attempt, most of it is badly written, bad grammar, bad spelling and surprisingly some mature content (not that bad though). I blame my addiction to mills & boons at that time.

At that time, there was a nationwide fascination with Korean Drama, hence the skin I used on Bebo.
The Blurb went something like this:
Ellen, Daphne, Gabriel and Mary were chosen to assist the King of the magic realm(Roger Philips 18) in choosing his bride in order for him to have a succeeder. Things get interesting when Mary's(who once was romantically involved with King Philips) love for Roger begins to resurface. Ellen, Daphne and Gabbe are aware of this and try to bring the king and his true love together.By the way, this is really original work. I like writing a series of books called the covenant of cross and most of my freinds read it. The Covenant Of Cross is made up of four mortal witches(Being of magickal and mortal descent. This mortal witches are Ellen jONES,(Dark Brown eyes, short black hair, tall and just a little plum),Daphne Felroy(Grey eyes,Reddish Black hair, tall and skinny), Gabriel Zeta-Jones (Light scottish brown eyes, Blonde hair and Marylane Mcneo (Blue eyes, brown hair)
I haven't finished yet though, I just like to thnk my fans 4 their support, they're the ones that keep me writing. Mwah!!
Awww, looking back at my writing and thinking, "Oh God."
There were 51 fans, 1419 profile views and an average of 4 stars review.

The Invitation

"I've got him!!" Ellen shouted pouncing on the demon. "I've got the demon!"
"Do I look like a bloody demon to you?" came Mary's annoyed voice from beneath her.
"Erm..sorry..i thought you were..."Ellen got off Mary guiltily."Sorry"
"He's gone into the basement," Daphne said as she and Gabbe ran into the kitchen with Mary and Ellen at their heels. They crept slowly down the stairs of the Felroy's mannor(Daphne's home) into the dark basement.
"Light please," asked Daphne. Mary snapped her fingers as a fire ball inflamed into her palm. Mary possesed the power of fire. Gabbe shivered a bit when she thought she saw shadows run across the walls. She quickly put on a tough look when Daphne glanced back at her. "He's in here somewhere," said Daphne. Everyone suddenly tensed as a tin clattered to the floor near by.
"ahh!"Gabbe felt a cold hand shove her back onto the wall.
"I've got him!"Mary shouted and threw the fire blast at the demon. The demon dodged as the fire blast hit the oil tank. Everyone jumped for cover as it blew up sending debris all over the basement. Everyone got up coughing and glanced up to see the living room ceiling.
"Dad's gonna kill me," Daphne muttered. "Now I'm really pissed."
"There he is!" Gabbe pointed at the demon who was staggering to the door.
"He's injured," Ellen said. Gabbe outstretched her hands sending the door to close. Gabbe possessed the power of telekinesis and levitation. The demon spun around narrowing his red eyes. He threw electric blasts which the mortal witches dodged easily. Ellen turned invisible and tackled the demon.
"Say the spell1" she shouted whilst tryin to hold the demon down.

"Son of hell
You shall Return
In hades to dwell
and forever to burn"
Daphne chanted. Ellen jumped away her invisibility wearing off as hell opened beneath the demon and swallowed the demon in before closing again to Daphne's living room floor.

"Well, that was easy," Gabbe sighed. Everyone glared at her. "Okay....maybe it wasn't so easy."
"Another demon banished," Olyander (the covenant's guardian) appeared. She held out a parchment triumphantly. "TA DA!"
"What's that supposed to be?" Mary asked. "Four tickets to Disney Land?"
"Disney Land?" Olyander asked puzzled. Oly is a being known as an enchantress from the world of magick. She has the role of being guardian to ellen, daphne, marylane(aka mary) and gabriel(aka gabbe).Beings from the world of magick have very little knowledge of the mortal world(the earth)."No not to Disney Land although that world sounds fascinating. King Roger is trying to find a bride and all those who wish to be the future queen of the magic realm will be interviewed by him." Oly waited for the four girls to attatch their lower jaws back up and continued. "He wishes for you for to assist him in selecting a queen."
"Roger's getting married?" Mary asked her mind suddenly racing. Although Mary and Roger had been broken up one year ago, Mary was still not over him. Okay, yes she did pretend to be over him. But she still loved him. She had only left him because of his status as king in the world of magick. He was their previous guardian but handed over the role to Oly after being crowned king. He was way out of her league and he deserved someone way better than her. She sighed. By why did it still hurt like hell?
"He's just 18," Gabbe objected. Gabbe, not to mention ellen and daphne had secretly wished that roger and mary would get back together again."He can't be getting married."
"The year of marriage in our world is 16 ,Gabbe," Oly said. "And, the King needs a successor. Someone to take the throne after he steps down."
"Tell him we'll be there," said Daphne. "We will always be there for him."
"I might have to pass on that," said Mary clearing her voice. "I uh...have some school work to do and all...I'm sure Daphne, Gabbe and Ellen would select a wonderful bride for him."
"No way, you have to come!" Ellen quickly objected.
"Roger wants all of us to come," said Daphne.
"We can't get him a good wife without you," Said Gabbe.
"And besides, if you don't go," Daphne began mischievously. "That might give Roger an impression that maybe..you know.. you don't want him to get married? That um..you still have feelings for him."
"I do not," Mary objected.
"Great, then it's settled, you're coming!" Gabbe said beaming. Mary rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Fine," She said. The living room door opened as Mr.Felroy and Daphne's six siblings Lavender, Tamara, Janette, Allysaa, Natalie and Raymond jnr entered.
"Daphne I'm hoo...mme," he glance at the hole in the living room floor which showed the basement. "Umm.. did I miss something?"
"Awww... maaaan," Daphne groaned. "I know.. i know.. I'm grounded but dad i really need to go to the magick realm. Duty calls." Mr.Felroy sighed.
"Only if you fix this before your mother gets home," he said. "Coz that's when you should really be worried."

That was how my online writing began.

Danger Love Ahead

I actually don't like the main protagonist; what was I thinking writing this?
Nothing. Too much soap operas.

I wrote this in 2007 on Bebo, under the authors application, just to try out my hand at online writing and how good I was with updating. The profile views still stands at 1497 views, 77 fans and an average rating of 4 and a half stars.

Again, I don't know what I was thinking. The reviews kept me going though, and at that time, I was proud of it. *facepalm*

The blurb read something like:

Me, Myself, and I
April Summers is a 15 year old teen trying to adapt to her life in the new neighbourhood. Living with only her mom and younger annoying brother, April is trying to fit in with the people in Graham Town. Brandon States is every girl's dream and every guy's envy in Graham high school. The cutest and popular guy in town, captain of the football team and class captain. Watch what happens when a seemingly gicky girl April arrives and turns his world upside down...or possibly right side up. The road will always have ditches and potholes but hope is still there when the road sign tells us what lies ahead..love

The main character was in no way a reflection of me but I used most of some of my characteristics to help me write her and to make things less difficult. For example, I used my religion because I was well versed with it and it was easier to make "April", catholic.A preview of Chapter one, bebo version.

New life

I stood just outside the classroom door nervously glancing up and down the school hallway. Graham High was way bigger than my school and the fashion tastes were terribly strange. I glanced down at my pull up socks, pleated blue skirt, pink sweater and white sneakers that i was wearing. Terribly strange. My hair was tightly bunned just like I was expected from my old school back in London. These students wore jeans and strapless tops or thin strap tops. Mom would probably die of heart seizure if she saw me in any of that. Mom.... why did she have to get a new job? I mean she came to Graham to become a pre-school teacher. She was a lawyer back in New York while I was attending an all girl's boarding school in England.I mean, I wasn't complaining. It was really cool, we always had to wear decent clothes (the nuns were sooo strick)and uniforms. We hardly went out..only for field trips but that was the way I liked it. Kenny, my younger brother starts pre-school this year but before that he was always dropped off at the day care centre. But mom wanted more time with her children, so she brought us all back together and sends me to this..this...(if u can call it a school). You see I'm a conservative person, I believe in god, in true love and that 'wait till you're ready' phrase. Oh and I can't swear. Yep, you heard right, I can't swear. So anyway, back to the story. I tensed when I heard the teacher from inside the classroom say my name.
"She's from London and it's her first time in a co-ed school. Come on in, April." I heard the teacher say. I stepped into the classroom hesitantly and looked at the curious faces staring back at me. There were stifling laughs and very rude comments but I ignored them.
"Why don't you sit beside Kira over there, hmm," the teacher pointed to an empty seat beside a blonde girl who was blowing bubble gums. I made my way uncomfortably but let out a scream as I tripped over someone's foot.
"Oops, did I do that?" Kira said tauntingly and the class burst out into laughter.

In 2009, I revised it on goodreads, and even though it is still a little puke worthy, it's an improvement. The story changed a little and so did the writing, thankfully. 381 people liked it, with an approximate of 73 comments and top 80s of the most popular creative writing of all time and #82 for the month.
An excerpt:
Chapter 5: Something about her eyes
(Brandon's version)
I was rushing through the school hall cursing slightly at myself. I had overslept last night and now I was late to school, I really shouldn't have let Dave drag me off to watch that gruesome flick. And who said only girls enjoyed a night out? I stopped half way to my classroom when I caught a glimpse of April, the new girl sitting on the floor. I flinched slightly at her hands which were purple and bruised. Who the hell did that to her? I thought.
"Are you alright?"I asked, I cursed at myself for making her jump slightly. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." I bent down beside her and picked up her books and her bag since I doubted she could pick them up with those hands.
"I'm..I'm..fine,"she stuttered.
"Sure you look fine,"I muttered but almost kicked myself when she glanced at me tearily. She obviously heard me. "You don't look fine, let me take you to the nurse,"I offered.
"N..n..no, you...you're...al..already late,"she stuttered weakly.
"At least now I have a good reason,"I waved off her weak protest. Wearing her backpack on one shoulder, one arm balancing her books I wound my other arm around her waist to help her up. I almost dropped her books when she glanced at me, her blue-green eyes met mine. There was something so familiar about her eyes. I could tell she was going through pain right now. Her once neat hair was a little disarrayed. Her eyes were welling with tears but she bravely held them at bay. The nurse was a very kind looking woman. Blonde hair, hazel eyes and so much make-up that she resembled Dave's sister's Chinese dolls. All she needed to do was paint her face white. I waited outside until April was treated. She emerged looking somewhat exhausted, with a bandage wrapped around her hand. The nurse followed her out informing me that April had 4 broken fingers on her right hand which was caused by books falling on them. I didn't believe that and neither did the nurse who was glaring at me accusingly.
"Is that what she told you?"I asked.
"Yes,"she replied bluntly. "But I don't buy it," she whispered.
"Neither do I,"I returned in the same tone. I turned to where April had been only to find she had already gone. Along with her books and bag which I stupidly left outside the first aid room. "She left a note," the nurse pointed at the folded paper I hadn't noticed before tucked between the spaces in the wooden bench. I unfolded the paper to find the word THANK YOU, neatly written on it. "She's left handed," I thought. "How else would she have written this?" She broke most of her fingers on her right." I shook my head, I had better get back to class before Mr.Peters bites my head off.But I couldn't shake the feeling that I had seen those eyes before... somewhere else. But Where?
